Celebrating World Bee Day on 20th of May

Nearly 90% of the world’s wild flowering plants depend on animal pollination. Find out how we’re helping to support the environment around us through our City Bee project…

Bee pollinating Flower

We all depend on the survival of bees. In fact, according to the UN, 75% of the world’s food crops and 35% of agricultural land relies on animal pollination. This is why we need to do our best to protect their environment and halt the loss to biodiversity.

Founded by the United Nations in 2018, World Bee Day is an important event for raising awareness about pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development. This year, under the theme “Bee engaged – Build Back Better for Bees,” World Bee Day will take place through a virtual event, which you can join here.

Honey Bees in hive

At Princesshay, we’re passionate about doing our bit for the environment, which is why we’re proud to celebrate the small but mighty bee.

You may not realise, but when you’re busy shopping, high up above you in our secret rooftop garden, over 300,000 bees are busily working away to pollinate our fruit trees and flowering plants. Honey that is harvested from our City Bee project is sold right here in the centre at Chandos Deli, with all proceeds donated to Princesshay’s Charity of the Year.
