Access to the Princesshay 1 car park in Exeter city centre has changed – Friday 21st November 2025
Work have taken place to restore the original access to the Princesshay 1 Car Park in Exeter city centre.
The changes advertised by Devon County Council, mean that from Friday 21 November, a one-way system will be reintroduced to allow access to the car park from Paris Street/Dix’s Field only. Vehicles will be able to exit the car park via a one-way system in Southernhay.
The change reinstates the road layout to its original operation. In 2019 the road layout and parking changed temporarily to mitigate other changes related to the new bus station development.
Now that development is complete, the road layout has been reviewed and the original arrangements that were in operation prior to 2019 are being reinstated.
Devon County Council advertised the proposed changes earlier this year, stating that it will provide better options for parking and cycling in the area and help protect the character of Southernhay.
Signage is being updated to reflect the change.
PRINCESSHAY 1 CAR PARK
You’ll find 264 spaces in Princesshay 1 car park including 18 wide bays and 6 disabled bays. The height restriction of the car park is 1.98m (6’6”).
The car park is located just off Paris Street and the post code for your sat nav is EX1 1GA. The What Three Words are drum.ocean.order To access the car park turn right at the junction with Barnfield road and then left onto Southernhay East.
The car park from 7am until 11pm. The car park only accepts card payments.

Access to the Princesshay car park is from Southernhay, via Magdalen Street and Southernhay West, or Western Way and Barnfield Road.

SUMMERLAND GATE CAR PARK
The Princesshay car park team also run and operate Summerland Gate car park located just off the Vue Cinema roundabout on Belgrave Road, EX1 2LB. The height restriction of this car park is 1.98m (6’6”).

Electric Charging Bays
The electric charging bays are located on Level 5 of the Princesshay Car Park nearest the up ramp to Level 6 and on the lower ground floor of Summerland Gate Car Park. The bays are 7kWh Pod Point Chargers and charge for use is 50p per kWh. All charging costs are in addition to normal parking charges.
Please note that there are high kerbs around these chargers.
If there are issues with the chargers then the Consumer is to call Pod Point on the number displayed on the charger and use the chargers name.
