Summer fun lands in Princesshay!

This summer, we’ve turned Princesshay Square into an all-age playground, packed with free activities, tasty treats, live music and brilliant local makers. From 20th July to 31st August, you’ll find plenty of reasons to stop, play and spend time together in the heart of Exeter.

PrincessPlay

As the school holidays are in full swing, Princesshay Square has become PrincessPlay, an all‑age playground where kids (and grown‑ups!) can burn off energy, try something new and enjoy being outdoors. Think table tennis battles, mini golf challenges, giant chess showdowns, hopscotch, snakes and ladders and climbing fun – all completely free! With ‘grass’ and seating, it’s the perfect pitstop for families on the go.

This area is free to use at your own risk. Please supervise children at all times and leave the space as you’d wish to find it.

Sweet treats & street food

Summer tastes even sweeter with Whisked’s brownies and bakes, British Fudge and a chocolate and strawberries kiosk popping up along Eastgate and Bedford Street in Princesshay between 21st July – 31st August, serving up the ultimate summer pick-me-up!

Independent Market

From the 1st of August, the Independent Market returns with a rotating mix of local makers and creators. Families can browse vintage clothing, handmade gifts and tasty treats from favourites like Wonky Pots by Dawn, Harper and May, SB Bakes and Retro Rail. There’s always something new to discover alongside our line up of over 60 stores and restaurants.

Live Music Saturdays

Every Saturday in August between 11am – 3pm, Princesshay Square hosts a local artist, filling the centre with feel‑good live music including local favourites Lenny Cordy, Rhianna Lewis and Blush duo, providing the perfect soundtrack for a sunny day out!

Weekend street food & drinks

Weekends get even better with extra street food and drink traders popping up throughout August. Sip something refreshing from the Tipsy Trailer, scoff down award winning vegan kebabs from The Big Kebabski or grab a sweet treat from Big Bakes Bakery and enjoy a relaxed bite between activities.
